Carousel Publisher Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Carousel Publisher, operated by John Michael Layne, handles information when you use the Carousel Publisher desktop application.

1. Information Carousel Publisher May Access

Carousel Publisher may access information necessary to provide its publishing features, including:

  • basic profile information from connected social media accounts;
  • account identifiers and usernames;
  • authorization tokens required to connect to supported platforms;
  • image carousel files selected or imported into the application;
  • carousel titles, captions, SEO text, and other publishing metadata;
  • publishing status information and platform-generated post or media identifiers.

Carousel Publisher does not request access to information that is unnecessary for its publishing functions.

2. Social Media Accounts

Carousel Publisher may connect to third-party platforms such as TikTok and Instagram through their official APIs and authentication systems.

Depending on the platform and permissions you authorize, Carousel Publisher may:

  • identify the connected account;
  • prepare and submit media for publishing;
  • send content to a platform as a draft;
  • publish content when supported and explicitly authorized.

Carousel Publisher does not use connected social media accounts for unrelated purposes.

3. Authentication Credentials

Access tokens and other sensitive credentials used by the desktop application are stored using operating-system-protected encryption where supported.

Credentials are not intentionally displayed publicly, included in application logs, or transmitted to unrelated third parties.

Passwords and access tokens should never be shared with anyone who is not authorized to access your accounts.

4. Images and Media

Carousel Publisher may temporarily process or convert images in order to meet the requirements of supported social media platforms.

Media may also be temporarily uploaded to a web-accessible staging location so that a supported social media platform can retrieve the files.

Staged media is used only for the publishing workflow and may be deleted after publishing or when the user removes the staged media.

Original project files remain under the user’s control.

5. Local Application Data

Carousel Publisher stores application data locally on the user’s computer. This may include:

  • imported carousel projects;
  • image references;
  • captions and other metadata;
  • publishing history;
  • platform connection information;
  • application settings.

This information is used to operate the application and maintain continuity between sessions.

6. Third-Party Services

Carousel Publisher relies on third-party services to provide certain functionality, including services operated by:

  • TikTok;
  • Meta and Instagram;
  • web-hosting providers used for temporary media staging.

Information sent to those services is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.

Carousel Publisher does not control how third-party platforms process information after it has been submitted to them.

7. Sharing of Information

Carousel Publisher does not sell personal information.

Information is shared only as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide requested publishing functionality;
  • communicate with connected third-party platforms;
  • host temporary media required for publishing;
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

8. Analytics and Advertising

Carousel Publisher does not use information obtained from connected social media accounts for advertising targeting or the sale of user profiles.

If analytics or diagnostic features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

9. Data Retention

Local project information may remain stored on the user’s computer until it is removed by the user or the application.

Temporary hosted media may be removed after publishing, after cleanup is requested, or according to future automated retention policies.

Third-party platforms may retain published content and account information according to their own policies.

10. Revoking Access

You may revoke Carousel Publisher’s access to a connected social media account through the account or security settings provided by the applicable platform.

Revoking access may prevent Carousel Publisher from publishing or retrieving information from that account until authorization is restored.

11. Data Security

Reasonable technical measures are used to protect locally stored credentials and application information.

No system can guarantee absolute security, and users are responsible for maintaining the security of their computers, hosting accounts, and connected social media accounts.

12. Children’s Privacy

Carousel Publisher is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required to independently use the applicable social media platforms.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as Carousel Publisher adds features or as third-party platform requirements change.

The effective date shown at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision.
