If you’ve ever seen the phrase “ARC Reader” and wondered what it meant, you’re not alone.
ARC stands for Advanced Reader Copy.
An ARC is an early version of a book shared with readers before (or just after) release in exchange for an honest review. It’s one of the most important parts of launching a new novel — especially for independent authors.
But ARC reading isn’t just about reviews.
It’s about community.
Why ARC Readers Matter
When a book launches, early reviews help in several ways:
- They give new readers confidence.
- They help the book show up in retailer algorithms.
- They provide social proof that the story resonates.
For independent authors like me, ARC readers aren’t just helpful — they’re essential.
You’re the early voices.
You’re the first reactions.
You’re the people who help a story find its audience.
What ARC Readers Actually Do
Being an ARC reader doesn’t mean you have to be a professional reviewer.
It simply means:
- You receive an early digital copy of a book.
- You read it (on your timeline within the launch window).
- You leave an honest review on Amazon, Goodreads, or both.
That’s it.
Not a five-star guarantee.
Not a marketing obligation.
Just an honest reaction.
Why I’m Building an ARC Team
Seasons of Ash is the first book in The Tambora Series — a grounded, Appalachian-set post-apocalyptic story about collapse, faith, resilience, and what it means to remain human when the systems around us fail.
This isn’t just one book.
It’s the beginning of a long journey.
I want early readers who:
- Love post-apocalyptic fiction.
- Enjoy character-driven survival stories.
- Appreciate moral tension and grounded realism.
- Want to help shape and support an emerging series.
An ARC team creates momentum — but more importantly, it builds connection.
What You’ll Get as Part of My ARC Program

You’ll be part of the early circle — the people who see the story first.
What I Ask in Return
If you join:
- Read the book within the launch window.
- Leave an honest review.

That feedback matters more than you realize.
