Greetings from the writing desk, or recliner, or couch, or back porch, or wherever I’ve snatched a few minutes alone to write (it’s the chair today). I’m so pleased you found me here and I can’t wait to share the world I’m crafting with you. I love the blog format! It frees me from the structure of writing an ‘official’ bio or tagline for the website (stuffy stuff to be sure), and from the rigor of creating compelling prose, with all the rules and pitfalls that come with…
Don’t get me wrong, I love to write—wouldn’t be here if I didn’t. It’s an amazing feeling to lose yourself in your character for pages on end, then having to go back and read what you wrote because it feels like someone else wrote it. But… there’s also something freeing about communicating directly with you – the person who has chosen to learn something more about me and my work.
So, thank you! Thank you for caring, for being here and for joining me for the ride. In the coming months I’ll share bits and pieces of what it takes to put together a project like Seasons of Ash. I’ll share sneak peeks into the world of Matt and Laura Anderson as they progress through book 1 of the series. Follow me on any of my socials and see video and commentary on my favorite spots in Green Bank, and a few interesting and sometimes spooky stories from growing up there. I’ll give you a hint; I’m a little bit of a conspiracy theorist and I have my theories about Green Bank, but we’ll save that for another time. I’ll also let you see a little window into my writing process, how I create, mold and grow my ideas and why I do it all.
We’re currently aiming for a launch for Book 1, The Long Way Home from the Seasons of Ash series in spring to summer of 2026. Any questions, feel free drop me a line at john@johnmichaellayne.com, or hit me up on any of my social media, links are on my site. That’s it for now. I hope you enjoy this process as much as I enjoy sharing it.
